Escape from Kuala Lumpur – Travel To Malaysia

Pangkor Island, Kuala Lumpur

Pangkor Island, Kuala Lumpur

Please don’t misunderstand me. I love Kuala Lumpur, the malls, the foot massage, or just have a walk in town! But staying for a long weekend in Kuala Lumpur, you might look for excursions to entertain yourself.

Short boat transfer to the Pangkor Island

With my friends, we decided to head up to Pangkor, a small island 3 hours North of KL. We left by bus without knowing much about the place, except that we can chill out on the beach! After a drive in a luxury coach – I have to highlight the great quality of Malaysian transport, I never traveled in such a comfort in Asia – we arrived at Lumut and went to the jetty for a short boat transfer to the island. After checking-in in our hotel at Nipah Bay, we decided to rent some bikes and drive around Pangkor Island, to have a look at the main attractions and enjoy a ride on the hills. Surprisingly, the island is not too touristic and you can enjoy your loneliness in some hidden places. From kayaking to temples visits, we have been busy the all 3 days. Enjoying sea food with a beer was also part of that busy schedule!

What we loved the most was feeding the amazing Oriental Pied Hornbills. What a funny bird with its strange beak. You can see them all around, some hotels have been using them for some entertainment, therefore you can sit watching the sunset and see them playing with the fruits that have been served to them. After 3 days of fun, it was time for us to leave and go back to the city. Next time, after saving some money, we will go for the luxury hotel right next to Pangkor, the Pangkor Laut Resort. They have some water villas that look fantastic!
